# Review System Automations

System Automations appear in Journeys when your account has legacy Auto Email or Auto SMS workflows available for review. Use this area when you want to understand what operational automations are already live before deciding whether to build a richer relationship journey.

{% hint style="info" %}
Some accounts do not show System Automations. If the tab is not visible, manage relationship workflows from Journeys and manage existing communication rules from their original Auto Email or Auto SMS screens.
{% endhint %}

## Review existing automations

Open **System Automations** when you want to check an existing operational automation.

Each card can show:

* the automation scope, such as a program automation or client default,
* configuration status,
* delivery health,
* trigger summary,
* audience,
* available channels,
* recent delivery activity,
* impacted programs.

Use the filters to focus by channel, status, or search term.

## Edit the original automation

System Automations use bridge mode. That means the card gives you visibility inside Journeys, but the original automation still belongs to its canonical screen.

Use:

* **Open in Auto Emails** to update email content or settings in Auto Emails.
* **Open in Auto SMS** to update SMS content or settings in Auto SMS.

## Convert an automation to a journey

Use **Convert to Journey** when an eligible system automation needs a richer path, such as branching, staff tasks, goals, delays, or more detailed journey history.

Conversion creates a draft journey based on the automation. The original automation is not automatically replaced.

{% hint style="info" %}
Converted drafts can stay locked from activation until the legacy trigger is ready for Journeys. Review the activation checklist in the journey builder before deciding when the new journey should replace the original automation.
{% endhint %}

## When to keep the original automation

Keep the original Auto Email or Auto SMS automation when the workflow is still a simple operational message and does not need branching, tasks, goals, or path history.

Use a journey when the relationship work needs multiple steps, decision points, staff ownership, or a clearer audit trail.
